 This is a sad reminder that dogs do cause car addicents.  Please read our articles on car safety for you and your dog.  Get a restraint asap or leave your dog at home if you will be driving.

Just recently AAA released a report with the results of a survey of 1000 drivers who have driven with their dogs in the past year.  They found that dogs are a major distraction of drivers and can contribute to accidents.  They found that 20% of the drivers allowed their dogs to sit in their laps and more than one half pet their dog while driving.  While we all know texting and talking on the phone while driving is bad many don't realize just how dangerous this is for both you and your dog.  You can read our article on

There are some very lucky dog owners in Crater Lake.  Their dog managed to escape a 1,100 foot tumble down the face of the crater in a car.  The dog was left in the car while the couple walked about.  Lucky for the dog the sunroof was left open.

 A new survey by AAA of 1000 drivers found that 80% of drivers have driven with their pets however only 17% use pet restraint systems.  Not only can this be dangerous if a dog distracts the driver by jumping in their lap it can be a safety concern if the dog attempts to exit the vehicle out an open window.  In addition in a 50 mph accident a 10-lb dog will exert 500 lbs of pressure meaning it could be deadly to you, your dog and anyone else involved.
