Heat Warning For Dogs

With temperatures in the 100's across the country it is too hot for dogs.  For safety reasons you should limit your dogs exposure to heat by following the below tips.

  • Make sure your pup has access to water at all times.  Keep a bowl full inside and outside.
  • Keep your dogs inside if possible.  If its hot for you outside it is hot for your pup.  Keep pets inside in extreme temperatures and keep the AC on.  If you can not keep your dog inside keep an extra bowl of water around and provide ample shade.  A baby pool full of water or a squirt with a hose will also help keep your pup cool.
  • Keep walks short.  The heat can overwhelm a dog quickly so keep walks short.  In addition keep dogs in the shade as cement can get very hot and burn paws.
  • If your dog displays any signs of heat stroke seek veterinary attention immediately.
