Once you get through the Basics Of KONG Stuffing you need to determine where your dogs level is at. If you have a new puppy with a puppy KONG or a dog that has never used a KONG your should start at the easy stuffing level.
Easy Basics
The concept for easy stuffing is to fill the toy with treats that are easy to remove. Loose kibble and soft items that can be removed easily are a great way to introduce your dog to the toy. As your dog gets more skillful you can up the difficulty level but for now keep it simple. Below are basic easy level KONG Stuffers.
Peanut Butter
smear some peanut butter inside the KONG making sure to get it all the way up into the toy. If your dog is overweight you will only want to coat the inside, but if you have a fit growing puppy you can fill a small Kong for a fun treat.
Dehydrated Lamb Lung
this snack comes in large pieces that are easy to wedge into the KONG. Insert a larger piece in the bottom of the KONG and wedge it up into the KONG until it holds. You can then fill smaller pieces around it that will fall out.
Dog Biscuits
You can simply fill the KONG with dog biscuits that will tumble out or shove a large one in to keep your dog working for a while.
Cheese
Take cubes of cheese and fill the KONG up. Cut them large enough to make it slightly difficult for your dog to remove them but easy enough that they wont lose interest.
Dog Kibble
You can feed your new puppy using a KONG. This will keep them entertained and provide both mental and physical stimulation. Fill the KONG with kibble or if you feed wet food and place the puppy in their crate.
The key to easy KONG filling is to keep it easy and uncomplicated. Your puppy should be entertained but not overly challenged so that their attention is kept on the KONG. Starting too complicated too soon will cause them to loose focus. Once your dog has mastered the easy KONG it is time to move up to Moderate Level KONG Stuffing.
