If you don't know what a kong is you either have a new first puppy or you haven't been in a dog store for years. KONGs are the strong durable toys that are super bouncy, fill-able, dishwasher safe and come in a variety of sizes and shapes. There are Puppy KONGs, Classic KONGs, Extreme KONGs, Dental KONGs. . . you name it they make it. Each of the basic KONG toys can be stuffed with just about anything to keep your dog playing with them for hours. The KONG Company sells fillers that come out of a cheese wiz like can, but we have found that it is easy to stuff a KONG with items that are healthy and there is an certainly an art to it.
The Right Kong
First you need to make sure you get the right KONG based on your dogs level. They sell Puppy, Classic for moderate sized adults or large strong puppies, Extreme for large adults with strong jaws and Senior for aging dogs. The difference is the size and the strength of the rubber. Senior and puppy toys have more give to the rubber making them easier to work with and cause less stress on your dogs mouth while the Extreme KONG is made of durable rubber
for large strong dogs. To get the right size check out KONG's Sizing Chart by breed.
Basic Stuffing
When stuffing a KONG you should always start from the bottom. The larger hole will allow you to shove in larger pieces of treats. The top opening can be used for teasers like peanut butter so your dog can smell what is inside . When mircowaving or freezing KONGs you should place them top down in a cup with the ingredients inside. If you are freezing liquid we recommend you stuff the top opening with peanut butter before placing it in the cup to keep a good seal and keep the liquid inside.

KONG Care
You should always keep your dog's KONGs clean. We recommend scrubbing them by hand in a dish soap and hot water and using a small wire cleaning brush, like the kind that comes with a turkey baster, to scrub the inside. Then periodically run them through the dishwasher to make sure they are germ free and safe for your dog and your family.
KONG Warning
Never stuff a KONG too difficult for your dog and always supervise your dog while playing with a KONG. There have been reports of dogs getting their tongue stuck in KONGs.
