Merrick has recalled their Jr. Texas Taffy treats in stores nationally including Petco and Amazon.com.  The FDA reported that no illnesses have been reported yet but there may be a contamination with salmonella which could lead to serious illness.  Make sure you check all your treats and if you have some contact the company for a full refund or just toss them out.

Dog treats affected by the recall have the item number 27077 and UPC code 02280827077. The recall is for all lots, including lot 10364. Consumers can return the dog treats to the store for a refund. Call Merrick Pet Care at (800) 664-7387 from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Initial Salmonella symptoms include nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, cramping and fever.  If you suspect your dog has come into contact with this or if you have transmitted it from handling a treat please seek proper medical care immediately.
