MetroSniff's 5 Cs of Dog Training - A Foundation

Fundamentals - By Staff Writer on Wednesday, June 23, 2010 - 12:31

The staff at MetroSniff has encountered hundreds of trainers and hundreds of training techniques that all have slight variations on similar themes.  Depending on what you are trying to teach your dog you will use different equipment, techniques, commands or signals but the fundamental principles and underlying foundation will be consistent.   Just as the individual commands you teach your dog in training for sport, fun, or for household life will build on basic concepts, the following 5 C concepts must be there as a foundation for you to be able to communicate well with your dog.  The 5 Cs are compatible with any further training technique as they should be an underlying foundation for the relationship with you and your dog and are more based on your behavior.  For you to communicate with your dog you must have the 5 Cs.

1.  Confidence
2.  Clarity
3.  Consistency
4.  Cooperation
5.  Constant Training

Click on each to learn more about the fundamental principals that build the foundation for training your dog.
