Backyard breeders either sell directly to customers, online or through petstores. They are not the occasional pet thats dog accidently got pregnant, they breed dogs in their yard for puppies to sell. The entire point of the breeding for the backyard breeder is to make a profit off of selling the puppies so their criteria for potential owners is pretty open. Anyone who has money can get a dog. Below are the pros and cons of backyard breeders.
Pros
1. Convenience. Often backyard breeders are convenient, they sell online or through local advertising. They have lots of litters because of overbreeding so there are always puppies.
2. It's easy to get a dog. They simply want to turn a profit so they will ask few if any questions, since their goal is simply to get the dog out the door.
Cons
1. Uncertainty. You can’t be 100% sure that your dog is what they say it is. Backyard breeders are often not registered with any organization so it’s difficult to tell what you are getting.
2. Potential medical issues. Backyard breeders often don’t bother with testing and will breed unhealthy dogs. Since it is for money, they often don’t put the care into the dogs that a responsible breeder would so the dogs could end up sick or neglected.
3. You might not be getting what you pay for. Just because the dog might be a pure bred dog does not mean it’s a healthy one. Backyard breeders do not have champion bloodlines but many times charge as if they did. If you are going to pay for a pure bred puppy you should go to a good breeder and get a healthy one that was bred responsibly.

If you have a breed that needs lots of grooming train your dog to tollerate grooming as a pup. It makes life better for you and your dog!
We agree that breeding a family pet is fine if you love and care for the dog. We are speaking about Back Yard Breeders meaning they are breeding their dogs for profit and often are small versions of puppy mills. If you are breeding a family pet and care for the dog that would be considered a responsible breeder because you would likely be following all the recommended medical advice of a vet and getting the proper vaccinations.
You honestly do not know what you are talking about! Most "backyard breeders" have bred their family pets that they are attached to and love very much unlike a breeder who doen't give a damn about the "bitches" they bring in to breed with their "stud". I would feel more comfortable buying from a person that has a litter from a family pet that is loved on daily then a person that has 50 dogs living in a little pin their whole life in order for them to make a buck. So called "back yard breeders" usually do not over breed their dog because they have a personal attachment to them where a breeder has no attachment to the dog and have no use for the dog if it is not being bred. Breeders are the ones that always have puppies not back "yard breeders".
