World's Most Expensive Dog?

Costing around $1.5 million dollars Big Splash, the beauty pictured above, is a Red Tibetan Mastiff.  The breed which is very rare and seen mostly in Tibet, according to this report, has become a hot commodity among the well to do in China.   Big Splash is owned by a coal baron who paid the hefty price for the pup.

More recently, however, they have become highly-prized status symbols for China's new rich. The dogs are thought to be a pure "Chinese" breed and they are rarely found outside Tibet, giving them an exclusivity that other breeds cannot match.

Accordingly, prices have risen from around 5,000 yuan a puppy five years ago to the hundreds of thousands and even millions.

While we would be willing to spend a lot of money for our precious pups, $1.5 million seems a bit crazy regardless of how rare they are.

What is the limit you would pay for a pup?  We cap our limit out at a few thousand for the right pup, however, our two dogs only cost $1500 combined.
