Puppies usually finish their final vaccinations around 12 weeks.  While this will vary for dogs depending on when they were started and when you get them to the vet, on average that is around the time when they are fully vaccinated and ready to take on other puppies.  So if you the period of time for super absorbent socialization is from 3 to 12 weeks than how do you safely socialize without endangering your pup?  With a little bit of knowledge you can make sure your pup is safe and fully socialized before they are able to take on the dog park.

In the 1970s the US Military did a study of puppies and dogs in an attempt to determine what exposures benefit a dogs development.  The end goal was to improve the performance of their military working dogs.  The study found that certain simulations during the period of rapid growth, the third and 16th day of life, would aid in the development of neurological functions and improve the dogs over all neurological, cardiovascular and endocrine system later in life. This program became known as the Bio Sensor Program (or Super Dog programing colloquial terms).

Once you have decided to get a dog or puppy you need to decide where to get it.  What you are looking for will often determine where you get your dog.  Age and breed are the biggest determining factor when deciding where to look.  If you are looking for an older dog you will likely go to a shelter or breed rescue of a responsible breederA responsible breeder is one that takes care of the breeding bitch and puppies, performs proper health screening and tests, does not breed sick or genetically weak dogs, does not over breed, and will not sell the wrong dog to the wrong owners regardless of profit. Backyard breeders either sell directly to customers, online or through petstores.  They are not the occasional pet thats dog accidently got pregnant, they breed dogs in their yard for puppies to sell.  The entire point of the breeding for the backyard breeder is to make a profit off of selling the puppies so their criteria for potential owners is pretty open.  Anyone who has money can get a dog.  Below are the pros and cons of backyard breeders.
